Getting Back to Business

By charleshowell3

After a much needed week off, I am now starting a busy three-week schedule which will include the Memorial Tournament, the St. Jude Classic and finally the US Open.   My first stop will be in Dublin, Ohio for the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.  This tournament is always one that I enjoy competing in because of its tradition, golf course, community, etc.  In addition, the combination of Mr. Nicklaus’ hospitality and Morgan Stanley’s event sponsorship makes for an unbeatable combination.

I am excited about the progress I am making with my golf game.  The AT&T Classic in Atlanta was my last event and I finished T8.  I was leading through 54 holes and unfortunately did not make anything happen on Sunday.  However, my play the first 3 rounds definitely helped my confidence.

In returning home last week, I continued to work with my instructor, Kevin Smeltz to refine my full swing and short game.   During the first three rounds at Atlanta I shot 67-69-67 and felt good about every aspect of my game.  Therefore, Kevin and I did not need to make any major changes to my swing this week and simply focused on building on the progress we already made.

As always, I appreciate my fans taking the time to read my blog.  Hopefully, I will have some good play in report over the next three weeks.

Hey three sticks! Love the site. Wish you the best with your game and I’m really hoping you make the Ryder Cup squad.

One question Charles, how do you measure yourself against other golfers?

Good luck this week in the open. I saw you at the AT&T and it’s always fun to watch you play. Shame they’re not going to have a tournament there any more – I really enjoyed watching some good rounds happen on the home course.

I went down and saw Kevin a few months ago and he’s a great guy and very talented. Actually two guys were with him from Australia (training) and I spent a full day with these guys. It was pretty embarrassing having that entourage at DLA but they were all great and I guess I should consider myself lucky.

    Good luck, you’ll do great.

    Hey Charles -

    Great website. And nice blog.

Sorry things didn’t turn out better in your latest events. I was pulling for you at the Open. Keep on plugging away. You have a tremendous swing and great all-around game.

Wishing you the best of success this summer.

Too bad about the US open, but that means all of your effort can be towards overcoming the field at the British Open. I hope things are in full swing by then and can’t wait to watch!

I just wanted to say Thanks for coming to the CVS Caremark. It’s great to see so many the games best showing up to support this small event. I was there Tuesday and really enjoyed it……….. I’m expecting a big season from you this year so get out there and rip up some grass.

CH3, you just showed up on the “key touny stats” as topping the greens in regulation (90%) at the AT&T National and I love it! Your our favorite tour pro here in the Doyle house and we root for you all the time. My son wants to be just like you someday and is heavily involved in junior golf. I had to buy him a couple dozen bridgestone B330’s cause thats what your playing! Thank you for being a good roll model and one of the nicest guys on tour, your a true class act. I marshalled Riveria this year hoping and praying you would repeat, but I’m not worried cuz I feel your next win is really really close. That was me on the 5th Tee with words of encouragement. Keep up the GREAT work and may God bless you continually.
Your fans out West, the Doyle’s!
